“Doctors and scientists said that breaking the four- minute mile was impossible, that one would die in the attempt. Thus, when I got up from the track after collapsing at the finish line, I figured I was dead.” – Roger Bannister (after becoming the first person to break the four minute mile, 1952)

“Champions aren't made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision.” – Muhammad Ali

Whether you're a large club, an athlete or a small community based organisation we have a workshop to suit your needs. Creative Training and Coaching offers a range of interactive workshops that address current and real issues relevant to sports today. The aim of the workshops are to enhance personal growth and development, through effectively equipping individuals socially, psychologically and emotionally.

All workshops are based on positive and peak psychology coaching theory and methodology. They are forward thinking and solution based approaches that are personalised to work within the framework of your sporting organisation . All workshops run for approximately two hours and there are a range of workshops to choose from, or alternatively ask us about tailoring one to meet your specific needs. All workshops are educational, motivational and inspirational.

Performance coaching with individuals and/or small groups is also available. This is highly recommended for professional and elite athletes / clubs. (Please see the coaching section).

Anger management (Educational): This workshop will address the very real and raw emotion of anger. What is it? Is it healthy? How do you keep it in check? How do you know if you need help? All these questions and more are answered. It will focus on triggers to anger and most importantly, coping mechanisms.

Effective communication (Educational): We communicate everyday, all day in one way or another. We cannot- not communicate! What this workshop will address is how to communicate effectively. Participants will discover what type of a communication style they have and use it to their advantage. Listening styles and effective questioning are also covered.

Career paths in and after sports (Motivational): This is an interactive, realistic and forward looking workshop that will equip athletes with important information and vital skills for their future. It incorporates a skills inventory that will allow participants to match their skills and abilities with different interests and career paths. It is a powerful tool that will allow the athletes to think laterally about their future in and after their sports career. Resources and appropriate contacts are provided.

Team dynamics (Motivational): What is a team? What are best and worst aspects of a team? This workshop will address issues related to : effective team characteristics, differences within teams and foundations of team cohesion. Building a positive healthy team is a work in progress and this workshop will look at the basics of a healthy functioning team and how your staff/team can achieve this. It will involve some practical exercise and tips. For work environments that have more challenging staff issues; a follow up to this workshop is recommended.

Motivation (Inspirational & Educational): What is it and how can you achieve it ? Issues such as triggers and strengths will be addressed in this workshop and how to covert ideas into action and maintain it.

Peak performance (Inspirational): Is a detailed and diverse workshop that would benefit any athlete working towards being elite or professional in their sport. Based on sports and positive psychology this work shop is rooted in theory and methodology that translates to all athletes. Topics included : flow, mental toughness and readiness, thriving under pressure, self coaching, surviving success and life /work balance. It would be impossible to cover all topics in two hours, so choosing what is relevant to your club/ athletes is important. (Alternatively individual coaching of athletes / staff would be very relevant in this arena- please see the coaching section).

Power in relationships (Inspirational): Examines the different dynamics (both healthy and unhealthy) that occur within the different relationships in our lives. Identification of unhealthy patterns and how to work through them and seek assistance is explored. Setting appropriate and effective boundaries and balance will also be examined.
